Peradam
Performance Notes
Artists Robert A.A. Lowe and Sabrina Ratté collaborate on Peradam, a new audio and visual work
utilizing modular synthesizer and the human body to inform modular video synthesis in real time.
Focusing on the relationship between voice and machine, the performance translates the physical body
into sonic and visual form.
Inspired by René Daumal’s novel Mount Analogue, the first work of literature to use the word peradam to
describe “an object that is revealed only to those who seek it,” Lowe’s composition focuses on the texture
of a consistent equilibrium between the peak and valley of a sound wave. The performance combines
sound synthesis and voice to create a heightened experience akin to ecstatic music.
